Staying fit and well during Covid-19

The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of many of us, causing fear, loneliness, anxiety and other intense emotions. During difficult times such as these, it is really important to take care of your mind as well as your body. There are many organisations offering advice and help for those struggling to cope.

Our physical health has a big impact on how we feel. It is very important to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, drink enough water and exercise regularly. Exercise improves both physical and mental health; being active helps lower stress hormones such as cortisol and promotes the release of feel-good hormones, such as endorphins, thereby helping us to relax.

Safeguarding during Covid-19

The unusual and difficult circumstances that we find ourselves in means that some people are at greater risk of isolation and forms of abuse such as neglect or domestic violence. With social distancing keeping us apart, it’s more important than ever to look out for each other, to report anything that doesn’t feel right, and to speak up if we need support.
