Parent Voice - You said We did

At The Halifax Academy, we value feedback from our parents. Where possible, we act on this feedback to continually improve our students' educational experience.

You Said We Did
You would like information about positive points for your child Reward points are now sent via Groupcall so that parents are informed about rewards.
You would like to see more production, sports and events photos on the website More news items and pictures are being regularly added to the website Latest News and via the school’s Twitter page.
You would like to be able to book progress appointments online From January 2019 we will be reviewing how this can be done so that parents will be able to book and view Progress Review appointments online for students in year 7-10.
You would like more notice of events The school website calendar now shows details of activates, events, meeting dates and school holidays an academic year in advance (where available).
You weren’t always sure what extra-curricular activities were on and when Extra-Curricular activities are published each
half term as part of the Connect newsletter. Copies of the timetable are always available in Reception and on our website.
You haven’t always been sure how you can best help your child with their homework and would like to know more about revision help. We have run information evenings for the parents of each year group giving advice on how best to do this. We also have links to useful revision sites in the ‘Students’ section of our website. For GCSE revision, there are more links in the ‘Learning’ section under KS4 subjects.
You would like more details about exams. The Exam Timetables are published on our website. Our curriculum pages for KS3 and KS4 have details of the exam boards we follow.
You are not always sure how much home learning your child should be getting. The Homework policy is on our website in the policy section and gives guidance on how much each year group should be expected to complete each week
There have been occasions when you would like to have been seen more quickly at Reception. We have changed the layout of our Reception area so that the office staffs are always ready to assist parents and visitors.
Year 7 parents wanted to meet staff sooner than in the Summer Term As part of the Information Evenings in November, Year 7 parents now have the opportunity to meet with their son/daughter’s tutor.
You would like to be able to e-mail Progress Leaders if you have anything you need to discuss with them. We have sent you the e-mail addresses of all our Progress Leaders via the Homework Cards and these are also published on the website.
You said letters didn’t always get home via ‘pupil post’ and you were aware of the rising costs of postage. We asked for your email addresses so that the majority of letters and communications can be emailed directly to you. We still provide hard copies of letters for students whose parents don’t have access to email. Letters are also published on our website.
