Homemade jam and fruit crumble

Reception class spent a fabulous morning at The Outback community kitchen and garden at Jubilee Children’s Centre in Halifax.

The children walked down in the glorious sunshine and had lots of fun picking strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries and rhubarb. After the fruit-picking, they enjoyed a picnic in the beautiful gardens and even had time to have a play and go on the huge slide!

When they returned to school, the pupils cooled down with an ice pop! What a treat! They then used their fruit to make strawberry jam and a fruit crumble that they enjoyed with some delicious ice cream. They had a fabulous time in the kitchen trying the things they had made; the strawberry jam on bread was a huge hit!
