World Book Day

Year on year, World Book Day is an event that is enjoyed by both students and staff alike at The Halifax Academy. Many members of staff relished the opportunity to dress up as their favourite literary characters.

Now in its 20th year, World Book Day aims to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading and provides them with an opportunity to have a book of their own. It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading which is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

For our World Book Day competition, students were asked to describe their favourite character and write a speech to persuade their audience to love the character as much as they do.

The winning students were very excited to be selected as reading buddies to our Primary pupils. The students have already taken up their new roles and have been excellent role models to our younger children.
