Unlocking potential with an inspiring mentor - posted 30th Mar

Two students of the The Halifax Academy, Miski Abdirahman and Umayyah Ahmed, have been developing their confidence, self-belief and motivation through their participation in the AQA Unlocking Potential programme - an eight month transformational mentoring programme for young people aged 14-19 years of age. The girls are enjoying working with their mentor Jenny Wallwork, former world number five badminton player and Commonwealth Games medal winner.

The Halifax Academy wins national award for excellent results - posted 20th Mar

The Halifax Academy has been recognised nationally for its excellent results in 2017, based on data from the Department of Education and Ofsted, analysed by SSAT (the Schools, Students and Teachers network). The Halifax Academy was found to be among the best performing secondary schools in the country, receiving an award for being in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress.

Ofsted Report Autumn 2017 - posted 6th Oct

The Halifax Academy was visited by a team of Ofsted inspectors for a full 2 day inspection on 14th and 15th September. The inspection team, led by Jim McGrath, visited many lessons, talked to pupils, staff and parents, scrutinised pupil work, examined achievement data, plans for improvement and met with leaders and governors to evaluate a range of evidence about the academy’s performance. Overall, the inspection team concluded that The Halifax Academy is a good school.
